Self Care, Weekend Edition

It’s the weekend…have you planned how you’ll do a little self care for yourself? I know it’s probably packed with baseball games, soccer games, and bringing kids here and there…but don’t forget to find fifteen minutes for yourself, too! Your family will thank you for it, haha!

So now it’s midnight, I still haven’t folded the laundry and organized my room — but it’s my goal this weekend. Having my room all organized would be a form of self care for myself right now because it’s driving me CRAZY! We all need a space in the house that makes us feel good. My kids have great rooms…I deserve one too!

Self-care does NOT mean being selfish. Taking little moments for yourself, making sure you are nourished, rested, and healthy is important for you AND your loved ones. They need you healthy, refreshed, and patient. Who out there snaps when they are worn out? See what I mean? It also helps us be present and clear our minds.

It also makes it easier to deal with stress when it comes our way. Just 3 60 second breaks during a busy and stressful day can make all the difference in the world!

Mediation is something to try taking up as well, and something I personally keep wanting to get into. I have a very, very hard time clearing my mind — it’s ALWAYS running. Even hypnosis-type things can be difficult for me. It’s an avenue I’m sure I would benefit from exploring.

In the meantime, I’m going to do my best to do things that help take a little bit of stress off myself and make me feel good (like getting my hair done every now and then!) There are endless ways to perform self-care on yourself, so get out and there and figure out what you need!
